Our Mission
Prometheus exists to democratise strategic excellence for builders.
For too long, the tools that give large corporations their competitive advantage — sophisticated financial reporting, CRM systems, HR management, business intelligence — have been priced out of reach for small and medium-sized businesses.
We believe every serious founder deserves access to institutional-grade tools. Not as a monthly SaaS subscription paid to a company whose servers you don’t control. But as a platform you own, that runs on your infrastructure, and that puts you — not a vendor — in control.
Why Self-Hosted?
When your business data lives on a vendor’s cloud, you are trusting that:
- The vendor will never experience a breach
- The vendor will not sell or train AI models on your data
- The vendor will not raise prices when you are too dependent to leave
- The vendor’s servers comply with the regulations in your jurisdiction
- The vendor will not shut down the service
Prometheus is designed for founders who choose not to make that bet.
Your Prometheus workspace runs on your own server. You choose the hosting provider. You control the data. You own the infrastructure. No Prometheus employee can access your workspace. Your data does not leave your jurisdiction unless you choose it to.
This is not a marketing claim. It is an architectural guarantee.
GDPR & Regulatory Compliance
Because Prometheus is self-hosted, data residency compliance is built in by design:
- Data location: Your data is stored on the server you specify. No data is replicated to Prometheus servers.
- Retention control: You define how long data is retained and when it is deleted.
- Access control: Role-based access control (RBAC) with fine-grained permissions at every level.
- Audit logs: Every action — login, data modification, export, deletion — is logged with a timestamp and user identity.
- Right to erasure: Data deletion is complete and verifiable. No ghost copies on a third-party CDN.
Open Source
The core Prometheus platform is open source, licensed under the GNU AGPLv3.
This means:
- You can inspect every line of code that runs your business
- You can audit for security vulnerabilities independently
- You are not subject to vendor lock-in
- You can fork and customise the platform for your specific needs
- If Prometheus as a company ever ceased to exist, your platform would continue to run
Transparency is not optional when it comes to the software running your business. Open source is our commitment to yours.
Values
Objective over subjective. We build tools that surface facts, not opinions. Every recommendation the platform makes is traceable to data.
Efficiency over complexity. We remove steps, not add features. Every workflow in Prometheus should take fewer clicks than the same workflow in a generic tool.
Transparency over trust. We do not ask you to trust us. We give you the source code, the audit logs, and the architecture documentation to verify everything yourself.
Sovereignty over convenience. We will never offer a convenience shortcut that compromises your control over your data.
